a kiss is still a kiss

monday was one of 'em days where i was just tired out but really needing a drink. so despite being unable to round up any of the usual drinking posse, i decided to head to cozy hole-in-the-wall bar alone for a drink.

i was the first one there... the only one there... and i watched as the bartender aka dj guy pottered around opening the bar. after he did his thing and poured me a medium sized (i stayed away from the large since i hadn't had dinner yet) glass of whisky, we chatted for a bit. perfectly platonic.

soon after this other regular came in with his girlfriend. we all chat a bit. by then i had finished my drink and decided that it was time to head home for dinner. dj guy and i did our usual cheek-kiss and then he leaned in for a kiss on the lips.

as i've always said, the situation is weird with dj guy. is the kiss on the lips a sweet gesture? or is it an almost obligated action? like in the case of some old married couples? or maybe 'coz most people don't just dive in all the time.

somehow all these thoughts triggered my brain (which seemingly works even after a long day) to ask...

what is a kiss?

i mean it seems like a strange question to ask. shouldn't i know? but i realised that somehow i don't seem to consider just a peck on the lips to be a kiss. like if i think of which guys i've kissed, i only count those that i had some tongue action with.

is it just me? but i thought perhaps i'll take an informal poll...

I wonder about that with The Fireman as well...are his kisses sweet little gestures, or does he feel obligated? I hate admitting to myself that I think it's more the latter...

A peck doesnt count to me either. Need some tongue action to qualify.

That depends. Is it lingering and soft or is it a quick peck? It makes a difference.
